3 Things That Will Help You Pick The Right Garage Door!
- Choose the right amount of insulation
- Ensure you understand the warranty
- Choose an experienced company to install your door.
Because the garage door often represents a big portion of your home's facade, you'll want to find one that looks great on your home. We will also include information on this page to let you know which types of garage doors can be customized to match your home's facade. Please feel free to use our garage door designer to get started.
Which Is The Best Garage Door?
Let me begin by answering this question. We are often asked this question and the simple answer is the best garage door is the one that most closely meets your needs. You should choose a garage door manufactured by a quality company with a good reputation and installed by a professional.
We proudly feature Precision© & Amarr® residential garage doors. We sell and professionally install these Garage Doors because they offer quality, durability, and warranties that offer a tremendous value to our customers and we feel are superior in the industry.
Understanding Garage Door Insulation
R-value is the measurement most garage door manufactures use to indicate how well insulated each door is. The higher the R-value the more energy efficient the door is. The R-value of a wood garage door is around 8. Much higher r-values are available in steel garage doors. Well insulated steel garage doors have r-values from 13 to 19.
The energy efficiency of your new garage door will depend on how we'll it's insulated. This is most often stated in R-Value. The higher the R-Value the more energy efficient the garage door.
The 2 types of insulation used in garage door manufacturing are: Polystyrene and Polyurethane
Polystyrene looks like the material you find in a styrofoam cooler and will provide r-values in the 13-14 range. Polyurethane costs a little more. It is sprayed into a door and provides a superior quality and R-Value. It will typically cost a little more than polystyrene.
2.Warranty - How Well Do I Understand It?
Nearly every garage door comes with a warranty of some kind. Many companies claim they have a lifetime warranty but don't cover everything. Garage doors have many parts: rollers, cables, springs, door panels, etc. Find out what parts the warranty covers. Does the installation company stand by the warranty or do you need to go through the manufacturer? When shopping, you want to make sure you are comparing apples to apples.
Many of our new garage doors qualify for a Limited Lifetime Warranty.
3: Decide Which Garage Door Company to Buy From?
The garage door industry is not strictly monitored. Choose a company you can trust. Precision Door is locally owned and operated, plus it is backed by a National Franchise. When you choose Precision, you get the security of knowing the company you hire today, will be there tomorrow if you have a problem and to honor the warranty. There are many fly-by-night companies that are not adequately insured and do not need to stand by their work because they won't exist in 6 months. When you buy a new door look for a company that:
Provides and stands behind all manufacturer's warranties
Well trained technicians in uniform
Trucks that clearly indicate the name of the company
Professional & Courteous
